Arizona Film Jobs- More Info

Arizona Film Production Tax Incentives

To boost the local economy, Arizona has recently instituted tax breaks for film and television companies that shoot in Arizona and hire a certain percentage of "Zonie" crew and talent.  There are incentives for both production companies and investors in the package.

This tactic to attract film production companies has worked well for other states, like New Mexico (Brokeback Mountain, North Country) and Louisiana (Dukes of Hazzard, Ray) and Arizona's film and television industries should benefit similiarly.

So if you want to break into films and commercials, whether acting or behind the scenes or even investing, Arizona's a great place to be right now.  Chances are if you have no experience, you'll have to start out small, working for food and credit only, but if you can stick it out after a while you'll find yourself actually getting paid for doing what you love!

Word of Warning!

Arizona is one of those states where agents and other professions in the entertainment industry are very loosely regulated, if at all.  This means there are many unscrupulous folks out there who won't think twice about using and abusing you, for a fee no less!

So do your homework, google your prospective agency or business partner, or check with the Arizona Production Association (APA) and make sure the people you're hooking up with are reputable, get work for their clients, have a history of paying, and that sort of thing....  It's a small community and word gets around.

Please contact us if you have a web site you think would be helpful to the community.  And check back often for new entries!
